This year, St. Vincent’s Hospice marks 30 years of providing specialist care to people and families who are affected by life limiting conditions in Renfrewshire and beyond.
Their story began in 1983, when members of the St. Vincent De Paul Society identified the need to care for people with terminal illnesses in the local area. This marked the beginning of a five-year campaign: The St. Vincent’s Hospice Project.
Thanks to their tireless efforts, in 1987 they were able to purchase a house and after a year of renovation, they opened their doors to patients on the 25th of January 1988 at North Road in Johnstone.
Since then, they have continued to go from strength to strength, expanding their services and treating more patients than ever before.
